COVID-19 UPDATES

5/4/2020 Update

As a result of the Governor’s May 4 address, we plan to reopen Fitwize beginning the first week of summer camp, Monday, June 15. We have decided that for the first 2 weeks of camp, we will only accept up to 30 campers for each camp (30 per gym). We want to ensure that our staff and families are comfortable with the implementation of all our new procedures.

In preparation for a smooth transition from the current COVID-19 situation into summer, we have established new “Summer Camp COVID-19 Procedures” to ensure the health and safety of your children and our staff; which will be in compliance with the current CDC guidelines for childcare. These procedures will be included in the summer camp email parents receive 1 week prior to the first day of each camp week their child attends.

Should you have any questions prior to your child joining us, please email us so we can address your concerns appropriately.

We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy, and has been able to spend quality time with their families during this unprecedented time.

3/25/2020 Update

Governor Northam announced that schools will remain closed for the rest of the school year and for non-essential businesses to be closed for the next 30 days. In response, Fitwize 4 Kids has suspended all programs effectively through April 24. We miss seeing our wonderful children and families and hope you all are doing well during this uncertain time.

3/20/2020 Update

In an effort to adhere to the guidelines of fewer than 10 people in a gathering, Fitwize is temporarily suspending our Open Gyms. We will continue to offer private lessons, which limits the gym to a 1:1 coach to athlete ratio at the discretion of our instructors. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but the health and well-being of our athletes and instructors are of the utmost importance.

If you have a sick child with flu-like or coronavirus symptoms, we kindly ask that he/she remain home. We will continue to clean and disinfect the gym daily, including special attention to high-touch service areas, restrooms and tumble mats.

We are requiring our tumblers to arrive 5 minutes early to wash their hands prior to participating in a private lesson, to minimize germ transmission.

We plan to re-evaluate our private lessons and Open Gym decisions on a weekly basis, to ensure the safest environment for our athletes and staff. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

3/19/2020 Update

As we continue to monitor the situation with the current COVID-19 virus, we have made the decision to close our facility for full-day camps, beginning Friday, March 20 at 4:00pm through Friday, March 27. We plan to re-evaluate on a week-to-week basis to determine our next steps during this rapidly changing situation. It is our hope that we will reopen as soon as possible.

Be sure you have “liked” our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages as we’ll continue to post updates. In addition, we invite you to join Mr. Berstein’s daily at-home workouts that we’ll post on social media. Please make sure to send us your fun videos/pictures of your family workouts.

Thank you for your patience and continued support, as we work together as a community, to get through this trying time.

3/15/2020 Update

We are working diligently to provide you with the most up-to-date information, as the health and safety of all of our families is of the utmost importance.

We will continue to offer our full-day camps to Fitwize families only, and will re-evaluate this decision on a daily basis. We will email ASP families by 6pm about the following day’s camp, and families will have until 6am of the camp day to register. In the event we cancel full-day camps, it will be communicated in our daily email.

As of Monday, March 16, the following will be canceled through March 20:

  • Tumble classes
  • Cheer team practices
  • Running Club
  • Preschool tumbling classes

We will re-evaluate our decision to reopen our facility to the above groups at the end of the week. We apologize if this causes any inconvenience, however, we are closed for these large group programs for the safety of our families.

3/11/2020

Fitwize 4 Kids has been closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) via the Web sites listed below. First and foremost, our primary concern is with the health and well-being of the children, families and staff at Fitwize.

We wanted to share with you the current steps we are taking.

  • Fitwize staff will continue to clean and disinfect the gym daily, including special attention to high-touch service areas, fitness equipment, transport vans and tumble mats.
  • We are requiring all after-school program participants to wash their hands upon arrival.
  • We are requiring our tumblers and cheer teams to arrive 5 minutes early to wash their hands prior to participating in class/practices.

At this time, if the decision is made to close LCPS, Fitwize plans to offer full-day camps to our current after school families to help minimize the disruption to parents’ work schedules. Additionally, tumble classes and cheer team practices will continue as scheduled.

Fitwize will continue to monitor what our state and local government propose and may make changes to our business schedule, if warranted. In the event of closures and/or cancelations, families will be contacted via email and social media.

We urge parents to make the choice that is best for their own families, as well as within our community. If your child is sick with flu-like or coronavirus symptoms, we kindly ask that he/she remain home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours and without the use of fever-reducing medications.

Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
